Start of Entrepreneurial Life

Our Community Bank again funded the Upstart HQ Challenge in 2020 enabling young local entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas in front of a leadership audience.

The students developed amazing business ideas, centred around making a positive impact in the community, whether that was solving problems locally or focusing on a wider global impact. The winning student was Beth from Loreto College, who won for her mobile app idea that scans beauty products to provide information about the environmental impact of the product. Beth was passionate about her peers having access to this information so they can then make more conscious decisions about their purchases.

The program also gives participants the opportunity to connect with local mentors on a one-to-one basis to hone their business and presentation ideas.
