When the community chooses to support us, we can support projects like the City of Ballarat Youth Awards. We know how important it is to inspire a new generation of future leaders and community contributors, so we sponsored the major award at the recent gala presentation.
The Youth Awards are a celebration of Ballarat’s young people particularly those who are doing extraordinary things and making a difference in our community. Special congratulations to Keeley Johnson who won the Community Bank Buninyong Major Award 18-25 years.
Keeley’s charity 'Keeley's Cause' provides brand-new iPads for children diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities from low socioeconomic families. Keeley has raised over $270,000 and presented over 350 iPads to ensure positive outcomes in education and employment opportunities for people living with disabilities.
Awards Coordinator Chloe Thomas said “this annual youth-led initiative pays tribute to young people making valuable contributions in a range of sectors, including sport, equity, diversity and inclusion, and community service. The awards are designed and delivered by Youth Services volunteers and City of Ballarat staff”.
