We love keeping up to date with the Phoenix College F1 students. Team Hadron’s recent accolades included the Schools F1 World Finals in Singapore where they finished 19th overall.
We know how important it is to provide opportunities for local kids to achieve big, worldly ambitions and this was no exception. Our support ensured the group could attend, participate and leave with an experience unlike any other.
Team Hadron Representative Aston said "it's not just about racing; it's a wild ride of learning and making friends. Getting ready to share the track with awesome like-minded people from all over the world, bringing their unique talents and vibes. In this global showdown of skills, every lap is a chance to pick up something new and every teammate is a cool person in the adventure of a lifetime!"
Team Hadron is a student-led team of F1 designers and engineers who power their miniature model car on CO2 canisters to have it perform.
Community Bank Buninyong Chair Ian Corcoran visited Phoenix College on the students' return from Singapore and was incredibly impressed by the stories told.
“This is another example where we’ve been able to support STEM projects, and dually the personal development of the kids involved. Phoenix collaborated with another Melbourne school, they worked remotely, honed their business, communications, design and engineering skills and on top of that, they travelled overseas. For most, this was the first time they’d been on a plane let alone outside the country. They made us exceptionally proud on a world stage”, he said.
The team are not only required to design and build their vehicle, but manage an enterprise including budgeting, securing sponsorship and event management.
