When the community chooses to support us, we support projects like the City of Ballarat Youth Awards. We know how important it is to inspire a new generation of future leaders and community contributors, so we sponsored the major award at the recent gala presentation.
Our Community Bank Chair Ian Corcoran said “the awards recognise the great work our youth do and we’re contributing to this. The whole night was about building youth resiliency and we’re proud to support the concept for people who will make a real difference in the future”.
The Youth Awards are a celebration of Ballarat’s young people particularly those who are doing extraordinary things and making a difference in our community. Special congratulations to Amy Hobbs who won the Community Bank Buninyong Major Award 18-25 years.
Amy is a committed volunteer with St Johns Ambulance and in 2024 alone has contributed more than 160 hours with St Johns. She has recently taken on a leadership role as the Operations Officer of the Ballarat Division. Amy supports peers through training new recruits, has worked in bushfire emergencies and is studying paramedicine and nursing.
Awards Coordinator Chloe Thomas said “this annual youth-led initiative pays tribute to young people making valuable contributions in a range of sectors. It awards someone who has made consistent and genuine efforts in various aspects of their life. This may include secondary and tertiary studies, employment, community involvement or supporting their peers”.
